Oldest, Most Continuously-Active Crew: The Exchange Club of Tacoma

The Exchange Club of Tacoma has been painting with Paint Tacoma-Pierce Beautiful since the program first began in 1985. As a matter of fact, the Exchange Club was one of the founding groups! In the summer of 1985, some City of Tacoma employees wanted a morale-boosting project for the summer, and they decided to paint the house of a low-income senior who lived on McKinley Hill. Those city employees asked the Exchange Club of Tacoma (a service club) if the members would be willing to buy the paint, and after deliberating on the question, the group agreed, on one condition: they wanted to paint as well!

They have painted a home with the program ever since, and they are the only ones to have done that, making them our "oldest, most continuously-active crew!" AND they've been consistent financial supporters as well.

Three cheers to the Exchange Club of Tacoma!
